HISTORY: This is the book Pancratia: A History of Pugilism by William Oxberry. This is the 1815 edition published by G. Chapple in London. Part One (Pages 1-18) deals with boxing of the classical Ages. Part Two (pages 29-371) gives the history of boxing from the time of Figg and Broughton to Cribb's second fight with Molineaux in 1811. Exceedingly rare.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This book is complete including the index. Rebound in cloth covers. The binding has separated somewhat from the body, but is still intact. Normal foxing of pages from aging. Pages remain clean and perfectly readable. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2." Hartley #1522. Exceptionally rare and desirable early 19th century book which is very seldom seen. The first we have offered.
