On July 26, 1928 at Yankee Stadium in New York World Heavyweight Champion Gene Tunney defended his title against Tom Heeney. Tunney stopped Heeney in the 11th round. This would be Tunney's last fight as he announced his retirement a few days after the fight. Offered here is an original wire photo dated April 4, 1928 depicting promoter Tex Rickard and Heeney's manager Charlie Harvey signing the contract for this fight in Miami, Florida.
