Tex Rickard was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1871. His boxing promoter career took off in 1910 when he staged the heavyweight bout between Jack Johnson and Jim Jeffries. He continued promoting and eventually acquired Madison Square Garden. He, John Ringling and others established the Madison Square Garden Corporation. He opened the new Madison Square Garden in 1925 and operated it until his death in 1929. Presented here is an antique wirephoto of Tex Rickard.
This antique wirephoto of Tex Rickard is 6 1/2" x 10." Three of the four corners are clipped (the upper right is not) and there are rips and small creases along the other edges. There is also a rip along the lower edge and there are large creases along the right side.
