ROBINSON, SUGAR RAY-JAKE LAMOTTA ORIGINAL WIRE PHOTO (1951)

Sugar Ray Robinson fought Jake Lamotta on February 14, 1951 in Chicago. Robinson knocked Lamotta out in the 13th round to win the World Middleweight Title in a fight often remembered as the St. Valentine Day's Massacre. Offered here is a scarce original wire photo showing the two fighters squaring off with Robinson checking out Jake's championship belt.
This is an original wire photo stamped on the reverse and including the original newspaper caption. Taken the day before the fight. Minor corner crease in upper left corner. Image is bold and clear. Possibly trimmed. Minor edge and surface wear. No tears. Clean. 6 1/2" x 9 1/4."
