Regular price $65.00

On June 4, 1928 at Royal Abert Hall in London future light heavyweight champion Maxie Rosenbloom, fighting as a middleweight, took on Tommy Milligan. Milligan upset Rosenbloom and knocked him out in the 9th round. "The end came suddenly..There was a short flurry and then down went the American on his back, to roll about until counted out...His seconds entered the ring and carried Maxie to his corner, amid claims that a foul blow had been struck...It was (soon) made plain to everyone that the claim of a low blow had been disallowed." (Boxing, June 6, 1928, page 716)." Offered here is wire photo of Rosenbloom in bed in his London hotel being consoled after the loss by a friend.
This is an original ACME wire photo with their stamp and caption on the reverse. Bold, clear image. Mild crease in upper right corner. Clean front and back. No tears. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2."
