On May 11, 1922 at the Olympia in London world light heavyweight champion Georges Carpentier of France defended his title against tough, Ted "Kid" Lewis. Also at stake was the European Heavyweight Title. Carpentier knocked Lewis out in the very first round. Carpentier scored a one-punch knockout, landing a right to the jaw on a break. (Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer - Friday 12 May 1922 P 16). Offered here is an original, first generation photograph of Carpentier and Lewis weighing in before the fight.
