Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. In his career Dempsey fought and defeated Georges Carpentier, Luis Firpo, Tommy Gibbons and Jack Sharkey. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO's. Offered here is an original, large format photograph of Jack Dempsey as he looked as heavyweight champion in the mid 1920's.
This is an original, large format photograph of Jack dempsey in fighting pose. Taken by Underwood and bares their stamp in the lower right corner. Mounted on board. Minor edge and corner wear. No creases or tears. Bold, sharp image. Minor chipping at the borders. 20" x 24." Exceptionally rare, especially in this size.
