James J. Jeffries was born on April 15, 1875 in Carroll, Ohio. He won the World Heavyweight Title on June 9, 1899 from Bob Fitzsimmons. He retired after losing to Jack Johnson on July 4, 1910, his only loss, with a final record of 18-1-2 with 15 KO's. Presented here is an original, first generation, antique photo of Jim Jeffries and Jim Corbett, training for the fight with Johnson. This photo came from the estate of fighter of Johnny Obeck and has a raised Dana Studio stamp.
