On February 25, 1964 Cassius Clay fought Sonny Liston for the World Heavyweight Title. Clay won the title from Liston after Liston retired in the 7th round citing an injured shoulder. After this fight Clay changed his name to Muhammad X and then Muhammad Ali. It was the Ring Magazine 1964 Fight of the Year. Offered here is an original ink signature of Muhammad Ali which he signed on March 16, 1964, only three weeks after winning the title and three weeks after changing his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali. Authenticated by James Spence (JSA).
This is an original ink signature on the back of an advertising card for Goldblatt's Snack Shop. Dated 3/16/64 on the front. Bold ink signature, "Muhammad Ali" on the back. Not creased or torn. Clean front and back. Minor edge wear. 2 1/2" x 4 1/2." Authenticated by JSA with their full LOA and label. Rare and early signature, maybe among the earliest known as Muhammad Ali.
