Barney Ross was born on December 23, 1909 in New York City, New York. He won the World Lightweight and World Junior Welterweight Titles on June 23, 1933 from Tony Canzoneri. He won the World Welterweight Title on May 28, 1935 from Jimmy McLarnin. He retired after losing to Henry Armstrong on May 31, 1938 with a final record of 74-4-3 with 22 KO's.
