On February 3, 1939 at Madison Square Garden in New York light heavyweights Tiger Fox and Melio Bettina fought for the vacant New York State version of the world title. Bettina won the title stopping Fox in the 9th round. Fox was dropped by a left hook in the 8th. After he got up at nine, he was battered into the ropes, where he took a count of 3. The bout was stopped in the 9th when he was being pounded on the ropes. Fox had been stabbed near the heart two months before the fight in a Harlem hotel after an argument with a woman. Offered here is a full, unused ticket to the event.
This full, unused original ticket names both fighters and includes a section, row and seat number. Stub firmly attached. No creases. Minor edge and corner wear. Clean front and back. Some minor fading from age. 2 1/4" x 6."
