On February 9, 1953 at the Palais des Sports in Paris, France Percy Bassett and local favorite Ray Famechon battled for the Interim World Featherweight Title. Bassett stopped Famechon in the 3rd round. Champion Sandy Saddler wasa serving in the U.S. Army, so this was for the "interim" title. Bassett knocked Famechon down right before the bell sounded to end the third round. After he was dragged back to his corner, he was unable to come out for the 4th round. Offered here is a wire photo which depicts 3rd round action.
