HISTORY: Jack Bonner (born July 14, 1874) of Pennsylvania was one of the better fighters at the turn of the century. He fought most of the top middleweights and light-heavyweights at the time, black or white; He also tangled with some heavyweights; Jack fought Tommy Ryan for the Middleweight Championship in 1898

During his career, Bonner defeated such men as Billy Leedom, Billy Hennessey, "Australian" Billy Smith, Joe Butler, Nick Burley, Abe Ullman, Charlie Goff, Dan Creedon, Dick O'Brien, Dick Moore, Harry Peppers, "Wild" Bill Hanrahan, "Scaldy" Bill Quinn, and Charles Haghey
