CHARLES, EZZARD-REX LAYNE DRESSING ROOM PASS (1951)

On October 10, 1951 (postponed from October 8th) at Forbes Field in Pittsburg former world heavyweight champion Ezzard Charles fought Rex Layne in the main event. Charles prevailed stopping Layne in the 11th round. Layne was saved by the bell at the count of nine in the 10th round and "was bleeding from the nose, mouth and a deep gash at the corner of his left eye when his handlers picked him up and carried him to his corner". The bout was stopped with him "helpless" after regaining his feet following another knockdown in the 11th round. (New York Times). Offered here is a rare, original Dressing Room Pass for this event.
This is an original Dressing Room Pass which names the fighters and is numbered. Bold color and print. Clean front and back. Not torn. One minor crease. 2 1/4" x 3 7/8."
