James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Offered here is an extremely rare late 19th century original lithograph of James J. Corbett done by the noted Strobridge Litho Company in 1892 when he became heavyweight champion.
This is a magnificent color stone lithograph of james J. Corbett dating to 1892. Has the 1892 copyright by Strobridge Litho Company stamp on Corbett's right shoulder. Bold color. No creases, rips or tears. In fine condition. Professionally framed. Exceedingly rare and possibly unique. 28" x 34."
