DEMPSEY, JACK-TOMMY GIBBONS VINTAGE PIN (1923)

Jack Dempsey fought Tom Gibbons on July 4, 1923. Dempsey won by decision after 15 rounds to successfully defend his World Heavyweight Title. The fight was held in Shelby, Montana and nearly bankrupted the town. It was forever more known as the "Rape Of Shelby." Offered here is a very rare illustrated souvenir pin issued for this fight.
This is an original. illustrated souvenir pin which pictures both fighters. Pin firmly attached to back. Slight foxing on front and minor discoloration on back. No dents. Not rusted. 1 1/4" diameter.
