HISTORY: Tommy Devlin was a Philadelphia lightweight boxer who fought from 1904 until 1915 amassing a record of 39-16-19. During his career he fought many notable fighters including: Jack Britton, Packey McFarland, Grover Hayes, Ray Bronson among others. Offered here is an original two page hand written letter Devlin penned during the height of the depression (May 29, 1934) to Walter "Slick" Schlicter, a Philadelphia sports writer and promoter. In this letter Devlin indicates he has been clerking in hotels and asks Schlicter "If you hear of anyone who could use a 62 year old clerk........" Boldly signed, "Thomas Devlin 444 E Orange Lancaster PA."

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, two page letter, written in fountain pen on Hotel Brunswick letterhead. Has the original folds. No tears. Clean front and back. 6" x 9 1/4." Exceptionally rare, the only autograph of Devlin we have offered.
