JO Sports Inc.

Regular price $235.00

HISTORY: On July 30, 1947 at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York us Lesnevich and Tami Mauriello headlined the boxing show. Lesnevich prevailed winning a unanimous ten round decision.  "Light heavyweight champion Gus Lesnevich, the exception to the rule that the armed forces 'took something' out of all fighters, banged out a 10 round upset decision victory over Tami Mauriello in Ebbets Field last night. Lesnevich spotted Mauriello 18 1/2 pounds, never once complained as Tami got away with damaging 'hitting-and-holding' tactics time after time, and still took the play from the start. Twice he staggered Mauriello - once in the 2nd with right hands and again in the 6th with hooks - and in the 7th he buckled Tami's knees with a right cross that all but floored the bigger man. The decision was unanimous in Lesnevich's favor." -Associated Press. Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-4 Lesnevich. This was a benefit card for the Damon Runyon Memorial Cancer Fund. Offered here is an original, official program for this event.
