HISTORY: Joe Louis was born on May 13, 1914 in Lafayette, Alabama. On June 22, 1937 he won the World Heavyweight Title from James J. Braddock. He retired after losing to Rocky Marciano on October 26, 1951. His final record was 63-3. Offered here is an original, boxing plaster ashtray of Joe Louis entitled "Joe Louis Our Champion." Dated on the reverse 1935.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is a boxing plaster ashtray of Joe Louis in full fight pose. Engraved on base, "Joe Louis Our Champion" and on the reverse the artist's initials and year 1935. Bold color. Hand painted to bronze finish. Rubs across the back. 9 1/2" high. Rare, the first we have offered.
