JO Sports, Inc.

Regular price $450.00

HISTORY: On June 6, 1925 at Ascot Park in Los Angeles lightweights Sammy Mandell and Phil Salvadore fought in the co-feature. Mandell won a ten round decision. In the other co-feature lightweight bout Tommy O'Brien won in the 5th round by disqualification over Ace Hudkins. Offered here is a very rare, original, souvenir pin issued for this event.

FULL DESCRIPTION: Larger format 1.75" diameter button, with no maker. Yellow text w/lt. red photos on cream design calls for close viewing. Muchinsky's book notes this was issued for a 1925 Shiners National Convention. On June 6, four matches were held. This button promotes two of the four bouts; both in lightweight class. Sammy Mandell (upper left) defeated Phil Salvadore (upper right) and Tommy O'Brien (lower right) defeated Ace Hudkins (lower left). Some very light aging to outer edge, but button retains high gloss and shows little actual wear. VF. Rare and the only example known to us. Paul Muchinsky Collection; book photo example #108.

Size: 1 3/4" diameter

Condition: Very Good
