Pedro Montanez, (April 24, 1914-June 26, 1996), was a boxer from Cayey, Puerto Rico. Also known as El Torito De Cayey (The Little Bull of Cayey), he was one of the best boxers in history never to win a world title. He began his career on February 1, 1931 with a win over Antonio Melendez. He notched wins over Jackie "Kid" Berg, Lou Ambers, Young Peter Jackson, Wes Ramey, and Freddy Cochrane. He failed in his challenge for the lightweight tile, losing to Lou Ambers and in his attempt for the welterweight title losing to Henry Armstrong. He retired after losing to George Martin on October 29, 1940 with a final record of 91-8-4. Montanez passed away in 1996. Presented here is a vintage signed and inscribed photo of Montanez.
