HISTORY: Willie Pep was born on September 19, 1922 in Middletown, Connecticut. He won the World Featherweight Title from Chalky Wright on November 20, 1942. He lost the title on September 8, 1950 to Sandy Saddler. He retired after losing to Calvin Woodland on March 16, 1966 with a final record 230-11-1 with 65 KO's. Presented here is a vintage signed photo of Willie pep dated 1945 which makes it one of the earliest Pep signed photos we have seen.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an 8" x 10" promotional photograph of Willie Pep in full fight pose. Sepia toned. Signed in ink in the lower right corner, "To Ed Maykeet A Swell Fellow Best Of Luck Always Sincerely Willie Pep 16/11/45. Some tape residue in corners, minor soiling and minor edge and surface wear. Bold image and signature. Mr. Maykeet wrote an explanation of how he got the signature on the reverse. It was signed at the Charter Oak Gym in Hartford, Connecticut. He sent this photo to Al Nelson who was affiliated with Jeffries barn in California.
