HISTORY: Charles "Chuck" Wepner (born February 26, 1939) is an American former professional boxer. He fell just nineteen seconds short of a full fifteen rounds against world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali in a 1975 championship fight. Wepner also scored notable wins over Randy Neumann and former world heavyweight champion Ernie Terrell. He was also the last man to fight former undisputed world heavyweight champion Sonny Liston.

Wepner's boxing career, and fight with Ali after, inspired the 1976 film Rocky, and other life events were chronicled in the 2016 film, Chuck. He was also the subject of the 2019 film The Brawler.

In 1974 Wepner recorder four consecutive victories including Terry Hinke, Charley Polite, Randy Neumann and Billy Williams.

The award has been signed by Chuck Wepner.Award is on a dark wood base. At the top is a circular wreath with two generic boxers inside. It is flanked on the right and left by flames. The black metal plaque with gold lettering reads, "NEW JERSEY FIGHTER OF THE YEAR PRESENTED 10/24/74 To CHUCK WEPNER By NEW JERSEY BOXING WRITERS ASSOCIATION." Signed at upper right in gold pen, "Chuck Wepner." Clean showing only minor wear on front and one corner chip visible only on the back. 9" x 12." Purchased directly from Chuck Wepner.
