HISTORY: Tony Canzoneri fought Barney Ross on June 23, 1933 in Chicago. Ross won by decision after 10 rounds to win the World Lightweight and Jr. Welterweight Titles. From the Chicago Tribune: "The fight was razor-sharp close and was replete with action..No title fight in Chicago was better fought." Ross certainly landed more blows because of his great laft jab and excellent defense, but Canzoneri was stronger and the harder hitter, and forced the fight. Presented here is an official program from this bout.
