On Friday, September 14, 1923 at the Polo Grounds in New York heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey met notable challenger Luis Firpo of Argentina with the title at stake. Both fighters were down in the fight and Dempsey survived being knocked out of the ring to come back and stop Firpo in the second round in defense of his title. One of the most exciting fights in boxing history. Offered here is an original wire photo which depicts Jack Dempsey as world heavyweight champion at his training camp at Saratoga Springs, New York in August, 1923.
