HISTORY: On June 24, 1947 at the Arena in Cleveland, Ohio welterweight champion Sugar Ray Robinson defended his title against Jimmy Doyle. Robinson stopped Doyle in the 8th round with a stinging left hook at the bell. Doyle could not come out for the 9th round and subsequently died from the injuries he sustained in this bout. Offered here is an original advertising envelope for this fight which included the originally scheduled date.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original mailing envelope which names the fighters, date and venue. Used. Bold color and print. Clean fornt and back. Date stamped and torn where envelope was opened. Not creased, but has compressions from handling. 4 1/8" x 9 1/2."
