On September 29, 1977 at New York's Madison Square Garden, Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali defended his title against tough challenger Earnie Shavers. Ali won a close 15 round decision. Ali was wobbled in the 2nd and 14th rounds, but had enough to survive. The fight was a huge financial success. The Garden was sold out and NBC which televised it live had incredible ratings, a tribute to Ali's drawing power. On the undercard Alexis Arguello stopped Jerome Artis in the 2nd round and Mike Rossman won a ten round deicison over Gary Summerhays. Offered here is an original, press credential for this event.
This is an original Press Credential which names the fighters, date and venue. A red cloth credential with pin on the back. Not creased or torn. Clean front and back. Bold color and print. Irregularly shaped into a boxing glove measuring 4" x 5."
