HISTORY: Offered here is an ultra-rare and original Muhammad Ali Festival poster from 1967. This piece combines the most recognizable figure in the world with the 1960's rock scene. The San Francisco/Bay Area psychedelic poster advertised the free June 10, 1967, MUHAMMAD ALI FESTIVAL at Hunter's Point that featured multiple outstanding bands including the Charlatans, the Steve Miller Blues Band, the Sonny Lewis Quintet, Anonymous Artist of America, and the Loading Zone. The poster states "Honoring Muhammad Ali Festival" although it was reported that the champ never showed up.
FULL DESCRIPTION: This is a heavy paper poster picturing Muhammad Ali at center surrounded by psychedelic images. Professionally linen backed. Not creased or torn. Original tack holes at corners which also show some light restoration, none of which affects the images. Slight toning from aging. 16" x 23." Exceedingly rare with only a few examples ever surfacing.
