On July 17, 1940 at the Polo Grounds in New York world welterweight champion Henry Armstrong fought tough Lew Jenkins in a non title main event. Armstrong stopped Jenkins in the 6th round. After appearing to win the first 3 rounds, Jenkins goes down 7 times. Fight stopped before the start of the 7th round, but under New York rules is listed as a TKO in 6. Welterweight title not at stake per agreement. Offered here is an original, wire photo depicting Armstrong standing over the fallen Lew Jenkins.
