Yama Bahama was born William Butler on February 16, 1933 in Bimini, Bahamas. He began his professional boxing career on July 20, 1954 with a loss to Bob Hoffman. Fighting as a middleweight Bahama developed into a significant contender and posted wins over Gil Turner, Kid Gavila, Joey Giambra and Joe Miceli. Despite his successes Bahama never got a title shot. He retired after a loss to Linnes Johnson on August 1, 1967 with a final record of 77-14-3. He passed away in the Bahamas on June 29, 2009. Offered here is an original album page which has been boldly signed in ink by Yama Bahama. From the collection of former fighter Vince Handley.
