On September 23, 1929 at Hurley Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut world featherweight champion Bat Battalino defended his title against tough Andre Routis. Battalino dominated the action and won a 15 round decision. From the Hartford Courant (Jack Kincaid) "Routis was not recognized as champion in New York State at this time."Referee and sole judge Conway gave Battalino every round, scoring the bout 75-56 on a 5pts must system.
