HISTORY: On September 3, 1936 at Madison Square Garden in New York world featherweight champion Mike Belloise defended his title against Dave Crowley in the featured match. Belloise stopped Crowley in the 9th round. Crowley was knocked down in the 8th. He was knocked down again in the 9th and took the count claiming he was fouled. Referee Arthur Donovan, disallowed this claim, and ruled the punch to be a legal blow. Offered here is an original wire photo from this bout depicting Crowley down on the canvas as referee Donovan moves in to stop Belloise.
