HISTORY:  Christian Richard "Dick" Schaare, Jr. (1893-1980). C R Schaare was an American artist who illustrated the covers of books and magazines and designed advertising images. He painted a remarkable eighty-two covers for the American boxing magazine, The Ring, from 1932 to 1941. After that, pictures he painted sporadically appeared on the front pages of Ring Magazine until the 1950s. Schaare became a close personal friend of the publisher Nat Fleischer and established contacts with many world famous athletes such as Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey. Offered here is an original painting on board by C.R. Schaare of two boxers in combat.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original painting on board which depicts two fighters in action with one down on the canvas as the other hovers over him. Signed by the artist at lower right. Bold color and clear images. Professionally framed in an open wooden frame. No noticeable flaws. 22" x 28." Schaare is without question one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century.
