HISTORY: Tommy Burns was born on June 17, 1881 in Chesley, Ontario, Canada. He defeated Marvin Hart on February 23, 1906 to win the World Heavyweight Title. He eventually lost the title to Jack Johnson on December 26, 1908. He retired after losing to Joe Beckett on July 16, 1920 with a final record of 46-5-9 with 37 KO's. Presented here is an original, first generation photograph which depicts Tommy Burns in period dress leaving court where he sued a Bristol music hall for breach of contract.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, first generation photograph with photographer credit stamped to the back and a pencil written caption. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Crease in lower left corner. Edge and corner wear with small nicks and tears. Tape on back to reinforce corner. 4 3/4" x 6 1/2."
