HISTORY: On March 16, 1936 at the Arena in Philadelphia heavyweights Primo Carnera and LeRoy Haynes met in the featured bout. Haynes stopped Carnera in the 3rd round.

Haynes scored with right hands to the jaw in the 1st round. Haynes continued to score in the 2nd round, and drove Carnera to the ropes, where he dropped with a left hook and right hand to the chin. Carnera rose at two, but was pummeled until he became entangled in the ropes. After Carnera was untangled from the ropes by the referee, he was pummeled again by Haynes until the bell. Haynes battered Carnera again in the 3rd round, and eventually Carnera turned his back to Haynes, prompting referee Adgie to intervene. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer. Offered here is an original wire photo depicting action during the fight.
