HISTORY: Georges Carpentier fought Jack Dempsey for the Heavyweight Title on July 2,1921 in front of over 80,000 people at Boyle's Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dempsey won the fight by stopping the smaller Carpentier in the 4th round. This was the first million dollar gate in boxing history. Offered here is an original souvenir ashtray from this event.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, silver and gold metallic ashtray, issued in France and picturing an engraved image of Georges Carpentier at the center. Engraved, "CHAMPIONAT DU MONDE GEORGES CARPENTIER JERSEY CITY 2 JUILLET 1921."Minor scratches on the border. Bold text and image. Clean. 3" x 4 1/4."
