Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was and continues to be one of the great figures of controversy in the history of boxing. Never a champion, but recognized as one of the dangerous middleweight contenders of the 1960's his career was cut short when he stood accused and later convicted of murder in New Jersey. His life has been recently portrayed in film in the movie HURRICANE starring Denzil Washington. Presented here is a contract signed by Rubin Carter during his fighting days regarding his management.
This is a two page contractural agreement between Rubin Carter and Carmen Tedeschi for Tedeschi to manage Carter's boxing career. It is a New York State Athletic Commission contract. The second page deals with Tedeschi giving up part of his manager's share to Lloyd Carter. Signed on January 22, 1962. All signatures in ink and witnessed by a notary. Both pages are legal size 8 1/2" x 14". Punch holes at top. Some edge wear. Normal folds. A rare contract of this fighter of controversy.
