HISTORY: Marcel Cerdan was born July 22, 1916 in Algeria. He began his professional boxing career on November 4, 1934. He won the French and European Welterweight and Middleweight Titles. On September 21, 1948 he won the World Middleweight Title stopping then champion Tony Zale in 12 rounds at Jersey City, New Jersey. He lost the title to Jake LaMotta by 10 round knockout on June 16, 1949 in Detroit. A rematch was scheduled, but never took place. Cerdan was killed when the airplane transporting him for the rematch crashed in the Azores on October 27, 1949. A beloved French fighter. Presented here is a late 1940's pinback of Marcel Cerdan issued for his fight with Jake LaMotta. We are offering the LaMotta pin as well.

FULL DESCRIPTION: Illustrated black & white pinback of Cerdan from the late 1940's. In fine condition. No foxing. Pin firmly attached. 1 1/4" in diameter.
