On February 25, 1964 in Miami Beach Cassoius Clay upset the boxing world with his dramatic stoppage of then champion Sonny Liston. Following the fight Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali and announced his allegiance to the Muslim religion. The WBA announced it might strip him of his title. This picture of Ali taken at a CBS TV appearance shows his reaction to the WBA announcing they would shelve any action for the time being while hearings regarding Ali's contract were being done by the Senate.
A terrific shot of Ali before the camera. Sharp in every detail. An original wire service photograph with caption attached to the reverse. Very minor surface wear from handling. No rips or tears. 7" x 9".
