James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Offered here is an extremely rare late 19th century original lithograph of James J. Corbett done by the noted Strobridge Lith Company.
This is an early 1890's lithograph of James J. Corbett done by Strobridge Lith Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. It was prepared for The Turner-Looker Company of Cincinnati. Corbett is depicted in a bust pose with folded arms. The image is sharp. There is slight discoloration running through the center. No rips, tears or creases. 21 1/2" x 27 1/2." Extremely rare and possibly unique. A compliment to the John L. Sullivan lithograph from the same company we are also offering.
