HISTORY: James J. Corbett was born on September 1, 1866 in San Francisco, California. He won the World Heavyweight Title from John L. Sullivan on September 7, 1892. He retired after losing to Jim Jeffries on August 14, 1903 with a final record of 11-4-2 with 2 no contests and 7 KO's. Presented here is a one page typed letter dated February 2, 1932 which has been boldly signed by James J. Corbett. In this letter Corbett discusses Jack Dempsey stating, "Personally, I don't think Jack Dempsey will ever be quite as good as he was. However, if he goes into training for a time and gets into good condition he may have a chance."
