HISTORY: On September 22, 1927, in Chicago heavyweight champion Gene Tunney defended his title against the man he took it from a year earlier, public favorite Jack Dempsey. There was great attention from the public for this rematch despite Tunney's easy win a year earlier. In round seven of the rematch Dempsey dropped Tunney, but ignored referee Dave Barry's instruction to go to a neutral corner. This afforded Tunney a chance to recover. The fight was forever more known as the "Long Count." Offered here is a scarce, original, full, unused ticket for this event. Authenticated by PSA/DNA and graded VG-EX 4.

FULL DESCRIPTION: This is an original, full, unused ticket which names the fighters and includes a section, row and seat number. Raised ornate print including photos of the fighters on the reverse. Stub firmly attached. Bold color and print. Clean front and back. Not creased or torn. Minor edge and corner wear. 2 3/4" x 6 7/8." Scarce, especially in this condition. Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA and graded VG-EX 4 with cert # 73649224.
