Georges Carpentier fought Jack Dempsey for the Heavyweight Title on July 2,1921 in front of over 80,000 people at Boyle's Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dempsey won the fight by stopping the smaller Carpentier in the 4th round. This was the first million dollar gate in boxing history. Offered here is a rare, original advertising piece for this fight. It pictures the stadium seating which is flanked by Jack Dempsey, Georges Carpentier, Tex Rickard (Promoter), Francois Descamps (Carpentier's Manager), Frank Dailey (Honorary Timekeeper) and Bob Edgren (Stakeholder).
This is an original cardboard, advertising piece. Bold, clear images. Bold color and print. Names in pencil at upper left. Edge wear with small piece missing on top border which does not affect the advertisement. 7" x 9 1/2."
