Georges Carpentier fought Jack Dempsey for the Heavyweight Title on July 2,1921 in front of over 80,000 people at Boyle's Thirty Acres in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dempsey won the fight by stopping the smaller Carpentier in the 4th round. This was the first million dollar gate in boxing history. Offered here is an original, antique photograph of Jack Dempsey taken on April 30, 1921 as he trained for this fight.
This is an original, first generation photograph. Date stamped on back April 30, 1921. Bold, clear image. Clean front and back. Small closed tear on left border with no paper loss. Small creases at lower right and upper left corners. Outstanding image. 8" x 10."
