On August 5,1967 Jimmy Ellis met Leotis Martin and Ernie Terrell met Thad Spencer in heavyweight Elimination bouts.Ellis would win his bout by TKO in the 9th round. Terell would lose his bout by unanimous decision.Presented here is an original wire photo dated June 28, 1967 depicting the four fighters at the Houston Astrodome to announce these fights and elimination tournament to determine a new heavyweight champion.
