On November 9, 1956 at Madison Square Garden in New York featherweights Flash Elorde and Miguel Berrios battled in a featured match. Berrios prevailed winning a unanimous ten round decision. "Miguel Berrios, a 5'2" Puerto Rican made it two in a row over Gabriel 'Flash' Elorde of the Philippines in 10 rounds last night at MSG. Elorde, who had hoped to fight Cherif Hamia, won't be in action for some time because his cuts around the eye and forehead required a total of 18 stitches. Berrios opened the eye cut in the 6th and then proceeded to take charge of the Philippine southpaw." -Associated Press.
