Regular price $235.00

HISTORY: Humbert Fugazy was a fight promoter in the nineteen‐twenties who made a “comeback” years ago when he helped to promote the second and third Floyd Patterson‐Ingemar Johansson heavyweight championship fights. In his colorful career, Jack Fugazy had been a boxer, prizefight promoter, grand‐opera impresario, banker and travel agency executive. However, it was as a boxing promoter that he gained his greatest fame. On July 2, 1925, Mr. Fugazy staged what fight buffs have called the finest fight card in the history of boxing here. The card at the Polo Grounds drew about 50,000 fans, and, in the principal bout, matched the middleweight champion, Harry Greb, against Mickey Walker, the welterweight titleholder. Greb won the 15‐round decision and retained his title. Offered here is original cartoon art of Humbert "Jack" Fugazy by Ted Carroll.
