George Gainford was a notable boxing manager and trainer in the 1940's and 1950's. He is best remembered as trainer of Sugar Ray Robinson. He also handled Gene Burton and Artie Towne. Gainford worked out of New York City and was a long time fixture at Stillman's Gym. Offered here is a rare hand written and signed letter by George Gainford dated May 29, 1952. In the letter he discusses training camp at Pompton Lakes where Sugar Ray Robinson was preparing for his fight with Joey Maxim. Includes the original mailing envelope.
This is an original hand written letter on Gainford stationary entitled World's Greatest Boxing Attractions. Has original folds. Written and signed in ink. Minor edge and corner wear. Clean front and back. 8 1/2" x 11."
