: Kid Gavilan of Cuba won the World Welterweight Title on May 18, 1951 defeating Johnny Bratton by 15 round decision. He successfully defended this title six times. He had victories over Carmen Basilio, Billy Graham, Beau Jack, Ike Williams, and Gil Turner. He retired in 1958 with a career mark of 107-30-6. Offered here is a vintage 1951 souvenir pennant of Kid Gavilan when he was world champion.
This is an illustrated cloth pennant in Spanish. Has some light soiling and staining. Color remains vibrant and the image is sharp. The end piece used to hang the pennant is perfectly intact. 18" long. Extremely rare foreign pennant, the only example we have seen.
