On February 16, 1983 at the Byrne Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey world cruiserweight champion S.T.Gordon defended his title against Jesse Burnett. Gordon stopped Burnett in the 8th round. Also on the show future world welterweight champion James "Buddy" McGirt won a 6 round decision over Cesar Guzman and heavyweight contender Mitch "Blood" Green won a unanimous ten round decision over Floyd "Jumbo" Cummings.
